Abode Home store
Mary Miller, the creative force behind Mary Tobias Miller Interior Design, will open her second retail showroom, Abode Home, during Memorial Day weekend.
Miller relocated from New York City to Charlotte, N.C., and opened Abode Home in the historic Dilworth area in 2008. Her second location is just two hours northwest of Charlotte near the resort areas of Grandfather Mountain and Linville.
“The area is wonderful, but it does have limited access to stores that cater to the home. I think my new location will be a nice addition to the retail community there as it offers a different mix of vendors,” said Miller, a longtime visitor to the area who now lives there part time.
Situated between two popular ski resorts and accessible from nearby towns Asheville, Boone and Blowing Rock, this second location possesses more of a modern mountain look and feel than its sister store, but it will carry the same curated furniture, home décor, and unique gifts and accessories. Brands will include Lee Industries, Gabby, Century, Lillian August, Hickory White, Bernhardt and John Robshaw.
Because of its resort-centric location, Mountain Abode (as it’s referred to) will lean into entertaining and guest items such as local snacks, games, spa products, hand soaps and lotions, linens, personalized paper products, wedding and bridesmaid gifts, and other unique keepsakes.
The store will also offer design services.
“We will have an in-house design studio running out of this store, just as we do in Charlotte, to help with drapery, pillows, and upholstery, and to offer advice on how to put it all together,” Miller said.
The new location can be found in Suite 1 at Grandfather Center, 4004 Linville Highway 105 South. Customers can enjoy 15% off their first purchase during the summer.
The shop will also host a series of trunk shows throughout the summer, including Gramercy Atelier on Thursday, June 21; Singvhi Jewels, on Monday, July 23; and Derek E. Ostergard fine European jewelry, on Friday, Aug. 3.
